Privacy Notice

Effective from 19 October 2020

We value the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy informs you of what data is gathered through the Ëlarm website, how this information is used, and what measures are taken to maintain the privacy of your information.

Who are we?

We are elarm New Zealand Ltd and Ëlarm is one of our products. We are a registered New Zealand company. The company number is 819902.

What information do we collect and why?

The provision of any information is completely your choice.

We only collect information that needs to be used to provide the best service to you when using Ëlarm.

  • When you register to use Ëlarm, we’ll ask you to provide basic contact and payment information in order to create your account and ensure correct payment. From time to time we may send you marketing messages about other products or services offered by elarm. You can unsubscribe from these at any time.

  • When you register to use Ëlarm as part of a corporate program or clinical trial, you are agreeing to let us share your data with the organisation paying for your account. We will confirm with you what data you are agreeing to share during your onboarding.

  • When you add a wearable device in Ëlarm, we’ll gather information from your account with your wearable device provider. We will also gather information automatically about your heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiration rate and body temperature. This should help you identify when you're about to get sick by picking up signals in your wearable device health data - and gives you actions aimed at keeping yourself and the people around you safe.

  • When you record your activity or symptoms in Ëlarm, we’ll gather the information that you input. This should help you identify when you're about to get sick by picking up signals in your data - and gives you actions aimed at keeping yourself and the people around you safe.

  • When you email us, complete a contact form, or contact us through social media, we’ll collect your email address, social media handle, name and the contents of your communication. We’ll use this information to respond to your feedback or query.

  • When you apply for a job with us or to join the graduate programme, we’ll ask you to provide your contact details, resume, cover letter. If you apply for the graduate programme we’ll also ask for your academic transcript.

  • When you sign up for our newsletter or gated content, we’ll collect your email address.

  • We collect statistical information about your visit to our website and services to help us improve it. This information is anonymised unless you are signed in at the time.

What about cookies?

A cookie is a small file containing a string of information that a website stores on your computer. When you visit our website, we may send one or more "cookies" to your computer hard drive through your web browser.

To the extent we use cookies, we do not collect personal information, and we do not combine information collected through cookies with other personal information to tell us who you are or what your username or e-mail address is.

You are always free to decline our cookies if your browser permits, although in that case you may not be able to use certain features on the site and you may be required to re-enter your password or login information more frequently.

We do not monitor or follow “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals because there is no standard interpretation or practice for DNT signals.

How do we share your information?

We utilise a number of vendors to enable us to provide our services. Our vendors must keep your information confidential and are not allowed to use it for anything other than providing our services to you.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. We also do not sell or trade in your personal information for any other reason. However, we use Google Analytics on our website. As detailed within Google’s privacy policy they may share information they have collected publicly and with their partners.

We do not disclose your personal information to any third party other than those described previously or when legally permissible.

How do we use your information in Ëlarm for community good?

We use the de-identified information you provide about your health to enable improvements in Ëlarm to aid more accurate diagnosis for others. This information may be made publicly available for the purpose of community research and innovation.

How do we store and secure your data?

We have comprehensive security protocols in place to ensure that your information is safeguarded at all times, including all personal information collected from wearable device providers that you provide through the use of Ëlarm. We employ full time IT security and risk management system administrators who engage in proactive security management as part of their roles. Our systems are secured by up-to-date virus protection software, and we undergo periodic security testing.

How do we use automatic decision making?

Within Ëlarm we use the information you provide to help you identify when you're about to get sick by picking up signals in your wearable device health data - and give you actions aimed at keeping yourself and the people around you safe.

How long do we keep your information?

We don’t keep your personal information for longer than required.

If you remove a wearable device within Ëlarm the previous information relating to the device will be maintained within your account.

If you cancel your Ëlarm account or its cancelled by us, then we will delete your information thirty days after cancellation.

Where do we hold your information?

We hold your personal information in New Zealand and in AWS in Australia. Wherever your information is held we ensure your rights are protected by robust security measures.

What are your rights?

Any data shared with us is yours. You have the following rights:

  • To be informed. We strive to be transparent about how your personal information is handled.

  • Access to your information. Please email us at support@elarm.health if you want to access your information.

  • Correction of your information. You can correct your information by emailing us at support@elarm.health or if you use Ëlarm you can update your own information within your account.

  • Deletion of your information. If you want us to delete all your information please email us at support@elarm.health. If you use Ëlarm if you cancel your account your information is deleted.

  • To withdraw your consent. You can also unsubscribe from marketing messages at anytime using the unsubscribe link. If you change your mind about using a wearable device with Ëlarm you can remove your device

How do you complain?

There are a few ways to lodge a complaint:

  • • With us directly, in writing, to our Privacy Officer at 15 Faraday Street, Parnell, Auckland 1052, New Zealand. Or you can email us at support@elarm.health to get in touch with our Privacy Officer.

We regularly review and update our security and privacy practices to maintain our commitment to best practice. We may change this notice from time to time in the future.
